Another fun list, no rankings!
Because milkshakes can’t really be standardized and mass produced, they are kind a local phenomenon. So I’ll list my favorite milkshake experiences here. Most of them come from the East coast of the USA, followed by the West coast.

Silver diner, as of now, has provided my favorite milkshake experience. They are an old eastern chain, once full of greasy cheesy meals in classic diner fashion. At some point, they underwent a ‘californication’ of sorts, leading to a revamped and delicious menu. The quality of the foods and milkshakes went up dramatically. So not only are the shakes delicious, but they also have a second wind. Let me explain. They give you a gloriously large glass, which is easy to savor. Then, they also give you the mixing cup that was used to make it. It’s basically two milkshakes for the price of one. That psychological trick, what a magnificent strategy.
